With Nitish Kumar Does the third front finally come of age?
November 25th 2010 04:04
Is Nitish Kumar the much awaited leader who will rid India of caste communalism and corruption? Is he the leader who will finally form a new and successful Third Front?
Is it the bigenning of a new dream in Indian democracy? Has a third front finally come of age in India? The rise of Nitish Kumar is symbolic. Who would have thought that a humble leader from Bihar would one day have the power to crush national level leaders and humble them instead. But the fates a disgustingly democratic they give power to a pauper and cast aside the princes of politics in India.
The rise of Nitish Kumar shows that an honest man can go further than a dishonest man in politics. It also shows that Nitish will now be hounded to enter into national level politics and in a nation sick of scams the need of the hour is an honest man. It seems honest politicians are very hard to find. Which is why once the public of Bihar found him they just refused to let him go. Today he is firing the imagination of the national press and the national politician.
Nitish has been congratulated by many for his amazing performance in Bihar including the national president of the party he crushed in the state Congress President Sonia Gandhi. But among the leaders who had a gleam in his eye was the communist Karat. The communist have been dislodged by Didi from their home and seek new territory elsewhere. The state of Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in 2012. The communists will definitely try and make a presence here. They may seek, an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and woo Nitish to rid himself of the BJP and join them at the national level, they could also seek an alliance with the Peace Party of India led by Dr Ayub Ansari a former General Secretary of the All India Muslim Forum which was floated by Dr Nehaluddin Ahmad in Uttar Pradesh for the Assembly elections here.
For Nitish is definitely a man who has his head on his shoulders and not in the clouds. While another leader would have been gloating over his resounding victory and claiming that Delhi will be next, he has merely smiled and stated that he is not thinking beyond Bihar as yet. However the nation will not spare Nitish. Bihar may have to spare him one day. Long deprived of heroes the nation has found one in him and he may be called upon by the masses to render greater service to the country.
Nitish could not have happened at a more opportune time. The cancer of corruption is eating into the economy. From Games to Phonecalls everything is a multi crore scam. Trillions of Indian Dollars are stashed away in Switzerland from where they are borrowed by the World Bank and lent to India on high rates of Interest. It is a case of Poor India Financing Rich Europe. Maybe we finally have a leader who has the political guts to do what he says.
