best time to visit India
November 10th 2007 12:09
The best time of the year to visit India is in November when it is neither hot nor too cold. The temperature ranges around 20 degree celsius and is just fine. Most small Indian cities that tourists like to visit are Agra and Varanasi and Jaipur, here transport is slow moving and human driven it is called the rickshaw. Two persons can sit while a third -- the rickshaw puller-- pulls the tricycle and takes you around town.
A town people hardly come to but one which offers tremendous shopping oppoartunies for clothes lovers and those interested in Indian architecture is Lucknow the capital of Uttar Pradesh the biggest state in India. The other is Bhopal which became internationally famous for the Bhopal Gas tragedy in which thousands were killed by a leak in a factory owned by a US based company Union Carbide.
Lucknow offers a lot to foodies and clothes lovers. The rulers of Lucknow -- before the British came -- loved good clothes and good food. Lucknow cuisine therefore offers a variety of foods like Kebabs, curries and chat. Sizzling hot these make an unforgettable experience.
If in Lucknow you must visit the famous Tunday kebab stall in Aminabad or Sahara Ganj. The famous chikan clothes are there too. Finely embroidered they can be tailored for you at less than 3 US dollars each. Summer wear at its best. What Lucknow has today are good hotels but on the other hand the public transport system is poor and the liqour is very expensive as compared to other states which keep it cheap for tourists. Also you will get to see the only college in India which received military honours for the defence of the British residency in India during the war of 1857. What more can you ask for.
